Video: Pope John Paul II Beatified in Ceremony in Saint Peter's Square in Rome

More than one million people turned out for the beatification of Pope John Paul II in Saint Peter's Square. He is now one step away from sainthood. His coffin will lie in state at the Vatican and pilgrims may visit it in the coming weeks. Pope Benedict XVI presided over the mass.


Sister Marie Simon-Pierre, the French nun who says she was cured of Parkinson's disease through John Paul's intercession after he died, was given the honor of presenting Pope Benedict with a reliquary. The reliquary contains a vial of the late pope's blood, which is set to become an object of veneration. Here are some highlights from the ceremony:
